More about this collection

Space is a great topic for big questions. While your child colours, talk about why the moon changes shape, which planet is red, or what astronauts eat. Dark blues and purples make a night sky really glow.

Every picture here prints on A4 or US Letter paper, or can be coloured online in the Crayonbird Studio: fill the shapes with the paint bucket, add details with pencils and markers, then save or print the result. The outlines are bold and the shapes are closed, so they work just as well with crayons, felt tips or paint. Use the age buttons to find simpler pictures for little ones or busier scenes for older children.

How to use these

  1. Let your child choose the picture: picking is half the fun and keeps them keen.
  2. Print on thicker paper for felt tips or paint, so the colour does not soak through.
  3. Colour a picture on screen first, then print the favourite and colour it again by hand.

Questions and answers

Are the planets drawn accurately?

They are drawn in a friendly picture-book style rather than as scientific diagrams, but the planets scene shows rings, craters and stars that can start a real conversation about the solar system.

What else is there for a space topic?

Our space activities collection adds word searches, maths sheets and stories about rockets and stars to go with these colouring pages.

Can my child colour these pictures online?

Yes. Choose Colour online on any picture to open it in the Crayonbird Studio. Fill shapes with the paint bucket, pick colours from the palette, then save or print the finished picture. It works on tablets, phones and computers.

What paper and crayons work best?

Ordinary printer paper is fine for crayons and coloured pencils. For felt tips, markers or paint, use thicker paper or card so the colour does not bleed through. Chunky crayons are easiest for small hands.

Are these printables free?

You can try them with a free account: it includes a few prints and plays, with no card needed. A Family or Teacher plan gives you unlimited printing and playing, plus every premium item.

How do I print a sheet?

Open a sheet and choose Print. It fits A4 and US Letter paper. Most sheets can also print with an answer key on a separate page.
