Cookies and storage
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This page lists everything Crayonbird stores on your device. There isn’t much: no advertising or tracking cookies, and no cookies from other companies on our pages. See also our privacy policy.
The short version
- Cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your language.
- Some features keep unfinished work and settings in your browser, so they work without an account or offline.
- Visits are counted without cookies, and nothing is shared with other companies.
- Because we use only what the site needs, we don’t ask you to accept cookies.
2. Storage in your browser
Some features save things in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device: our server doesn’t read it, and it isn’t used to track you.
| Name | What it keeps |
|---|---|
| Namecb-ink:… | What it keepsAn unfinished drawing or written page, so it isn’t lost if the page closes. |

| Namecb-ink-prefs | What it keepsYour last pen, colour and size. |
| Namecb_pack:… | What it keepsWhich pages of an activity pack are done. |
| Namecb_inksaver | What it keepsThe “save ink” printing choice. |
| Namecb_speech_speed, cb_autoread_…, cb_teen_autospeak | What it keepsRead-aloud choices: speed, and whether to read automatically. |

On a shared computer, unfinished drafts can stay on the device after someone signs out. If other people use the same device, clear the site data in the browser settings.
3. The installable app and offline copies
If you install Crayonbird as an app, or while you browse, a service worker (a small helper in your browser) may keep copies of pages, pictures and files you opened, so they load faster and work offline. These copies stay on your device and are never sent to anyone. Uninstalling the app or clearing the site data removes them.
4. Visitor statistics without cookies
To learn which pages help people, we count visits on our own server, without cookies and without storing anything on your device. For each visit, the IP address and browser type are combined with a secret that changes every day and scrambled into a code, so that the same visitor is counted once a day. The code can’t be turned back into an IP address and is deleted after two days. We keep only totals: views and visitors per page, country (supplied by our network provider, Cloudflare), type of device, language and the site that sent you. Nothing is shared with other companies.
If you don’t want to be counted, switch on Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” in your browser: we don’t count visits that send these signals.
6. Your choices
You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you do, you will be signed out, unfinished drafts will be lost and the site will forget your language.
