The Brave Snail

Sam was a small snail who lived under a big green leaf. Every day, Sam watched the other animals cross the garden path. “I am too slow,” Sam said sadly.

One morning, a ladybird called for help. She had hurt her wing, and she was stuck on the other side of the path. The rain was coming! Sam took a deep breath and started to crawl.

Slowly, slowly, Sam crossed the path. The ladybird climbed onto his shell. Then Sam carried her home, just before the first raindrops fell.

“Thank you, Sam!” said the ladybird. “You are slow, but you are very brave.” Sam smiled all the way back to his leaf.
