All animals need food, water and air to stay alive, and a safe place to live. Different animals eat different foods. Rabbits and cows eat plants. Lions and owls eat other animals. Bears and people eat both plants and animals.
Animals find what they need in the place they live. A fish gets air from the water using its gills. A bird drinks from puddles and ponds and eats seeds or worms. A pet needs us to give it food, fresh water and a clean, safe home. Watching what an animal eats tells us about how it lives.
