Handwriting Practice Sheets: Letters, Words and Names
- Ages 3–10
- Free to print
- Many play on screen
Good handwriting is less about beauty and more about being comfortable and readable. These sheets help with both. Tracing pages show where each letter starts and which way it goes, word pages practise spacing, and the name tracer lets children practise the word they care about most: their own name. For older children there are lined papers, letter templates and journal pages for real writing.

More about this collection
Posture matters more than people think. Feet flat on the floor, paper slightly tilted, the other hand holding the page still. Five minutes of careful writing is worth more than a full page done in a rush, so aim for quality and stop before the hand gets tired.
Each language has its own version: Arabic letters in their joined forms, Devanagari vowels and consonants for Hindi, Chinese characters traced stroke by stroke, and the Latin alphabet with accents for the European languages and Indonesian. Little and often is the rule: a few minutes most days builds neat, comfortable writing much faster than a long session once a week.
How to use these
- Use the name tracer to make a personal sheet with your child’s name.
- Check the starting point of each letter before speed.
- Move from big tracing to normal-sized lines as control improves.
- Give older children a real reason to write: a letter, a list, a diary.
