Geography for Kids: Continents, Countries and Capitals

  • Ages 6–16
  • Free to print
  • Many play on screen

Geography helps children place themselves in the world. This collection starts with the big picture, the seven continents and five oceans, through word searches and spelling games, then moves to quizzes on countries and capital cities for older children. Colouring pages of globes, maps and animals in their habitats, from camels in the desert to penguins on the ice, connect places with what lives there.

More about this collection

Keep a world map or globe nearby. Every time a country comes up, in a story, the news or a quiz, find it together. Knowing roughly where places are is the foundation for everything else in geography.

The quizzes are marked instantly on screen and come in levels, so children can start with continents and big countries and work up to harder capitals. Short rounds a few times a week work much better than one long session. Older students preparing for exams can use the harder capitals and countries quizzes for quick revision.

How to use these

  1. Find every place on a map or globe as it comes up.
  2. Learn the continents and oceans first, then countries.
  3. Use the capitals quizzes in short, regular rounds.
