Spot the Difference Puzzles for Kids

  • Ages 4–11
  • Ready to print
  • Many play on screen

Spot the difference is a classic for a reason: it is fun, quiet and it sharpens attention. Each puzzle shows two pictures that look the same at first glance. Children compare them carefully and circle what has changed: a missing hat, a different colour, an extra bird. Easy pictures have a few big changes; harder ones hide more, smaller differences.

More about this collection

Teach a strategy rather than random searching: go across the picture in strips, or compare one corner at a time. That systematic looking is useful far beyond puzzles, from checking work to reading carefully.

There are two styles: full-colour pictures, which are great on screen, and black-and-white line pictures, which children can colour once they have found all the differences. Both come in easier and harder levels. For young children, point to the area where a difference is hiding if they get stuck, rather than giving the answer. Finding it themselves is the whole fun.

How to use these

  1. Tell your child how many differences to find before they start.
  2. Search in strips, from left to right, top to bottom.
  3. Try the line-art versions as colouring pages afterwards.
