Good writing starts with a plan. For a story, plan the beginning (characters and setting), the problem and the ending. For instructions, list what you need and then the steps in order.
Organise your writing into paragraphs. Each paragraph is about one main idea or one part of the story. Start a new paragraph when the time, place, topic or speaker changes.
A plan can be a list, a story mountain or a table. Spending five minutes planning saves you time later.
