Every Saturday morning, Ezra makes pancakes with his two mums in their kitchen in Amsterdam. Mama Lotte mixes the flour, eggs and milk. Mum Grace heats the pan. Ezra’s job is the most important one: flipping.
“Today I will do the biggest flip ever,” said Ezra. He held the pan with both hands and counted. “One… two… THREE!”
The pancake flew up, up, up. It did not come down. Everyone looked at the ceiling. The pancake was hanging on the lamp, swinging gently like a funny hat!
Their dog, Bami, sat right underneath with his tongue out, waiting. Mama Lotte began to giggle. Mum Grace began to laugh. Soon Ezra was laughing so hard that he had to sit on the floor.
Then, plop! The pancake dropped down, straight into Bami’s mouth. Bami wagged his tail. It was the best breakfast he had ever had.
“Maybe a medium flip next time,” said Mum Grace, handing Ezra the pan. Ezra flipped gently, and the next pancake landed perfectly. They ate it with strawberries and a little syrup.
