Bolt was a little robot who lived in a busy library. His job was to put the books back on the right shelves. Bolt loved his job, but sometimes he mixed up the shelves.
One afternoon, a boy called Diego came in looking sad. “I need a book about volcanoes for school,” he said, “but I can’t find one anywhere.” Bolt’s lights blinked blue while he thought.
Together they searched every shelf. They found books about dragons, boats and cakes, but none about volcanoes. Then Bolt remembered something. Yesterday he had put a red book on the cookbook shelf by mistake!
They hurried to the cookbook shelf, and there it was: “Mountains of Fire”. Diego cheered. “Your mistake helped us!” he laughed. Bolt’s lights glowed a happy green.
One evening, Noor and her brother Sami found Mum frowning at a piece of paper. “Our electricity bill is very high this month,” she sighed.
Noor had an idea. “Sami, let’s be energy detectives!” They made badges out of card and grabbed a notebook. Then they searched the house for clues.
Clue number one: the bathroom light was on, but nobody was in the bathroom. Clue number two: the TV was asleep with its little red light glowing, using power all night. Clue number three: Grandpa’s phone charger was plugged in, but his phone was in his pocket!
The detectives wrote a list of rules and stuck it on the fridge. “Switch off lights when you leave a room. Turn the TV off properly. Unplug chargers. Close the fridge door quickly.” Sami drew a little light bulb with a smiling face next to each rule.
The whole family followed the rules, even Grandpa. A month later, Mum opened the new bill and smiled. “It’s smaller!” she said. “With the money we saved, let’s have a picnic in the park.” The energy detectives cheered. Case closed!
