Mateo lived high in the mountains of Peru. Every morning, he walked with his llama, Pepa, to the green field.

One windy day, Mateo’s red hat flew off his head! It rolled down the hill and hid behind a rock. Mateo looked and looked, but he could not find it.

Pepa sniffed the air. Then she trotted down the hill. She stopped by a big rock and made a happy humming sound.

There was the red hat! Mateo hugged Pepa’s soft, woolly neck. “Thank you, Pepa. You are the best helper in the mountains!”
