On Saturday, Amara went to the market with Grandma. The market was busy and loud. People sold red tomatoes, yellow bananas and big green watermelons.
Grandma gave Amara a little basket and five shiny coins. “You can pay today,” she said.
Amara chose six tomatoes and two sweet mangoes. She counted her coins very carefully: one, two, three, four, five. The fruit seller smiled. “You are a good counter!” she said, and she put one more mango in the basket as a gift.
On the way home, Amara held the basket with both hands. It was heavy, but she felt very proud.
