About this activity

What your child practises

Following steps in order, building a picture from simple shapes and confident pencil control.

What’s included

  • 5 drawing steps
  • Open-ended: no right or wrong answers

Age and school year

Made for ages 4–7. That’s Pre-K – Grade 2 in the US, Reception – Year 3 in England, Nursery 1 – Primary 2 in Nigeria and LKG – Class 2 in India.

How to use it

  • Print it at home or school – it fits a standard A4 or US Letter page.
  • Write on it on a tablet or touchscreen with a finger or stylus – no printer needed.

Tips for parents and teachers

  1. Offer a few colours rather than the whole box; a smaller palette leads to careful choices and finished pictures.
  2. Invite older children to add their own background, patterns or shading to make the picture theirs.
  3. Sit beside your child and read the instructions aloud; at this age the time together matters as much as the page.
